Talamasca F.A.Q.

1. What does Talamasca mean?

Talamasca is a reference to Anne Rice’s vampire chronicles, and is a secret society with the purpose of watching over paranormal activities, including those of vampires, werewolves and spirits.

More can be learned here: http://en.wikipedia.org/...

2. What is Talamasca?

Talamasca is a World of Warcraft Raiding Guild, based on the US-Executus server, on the Alliance side. It is also one of the most traditional guilds in the server, its foundation dating from the end of BC. Many of our members have been playing since the beginning of BC, and we even have a few who have been raiding since Vanilla.

3. What are Talamasca’s activities?

Talamasca is basically a raiding guild. Although we occasionally do some other activities, the main focus of the guild is end-content raiding and progression.

That doesn’t mean that we won’t support you through leveling and gearing up, or that we don’t raid anything except for high-end content. But please note that those are not the main objectives of the guild.

4. Is there a Raiding Schedule?

Yes. The current guild raids are:

* Tuesday: ICC 25 man
* Wednesday: ICC 10 man
* Thursday: ICC 10 man (group 2)
* Friday: Drakie’s LAWL Raids (exploring old content)
* Saturday: Drakie’s LAWL Raids
* Sunday: ICC 10 man (Wed Cont.)
* Monday: RS 10 man

5. Is the schedule carved on stone, written in blood, 100% guaranteed?

No. We try our best to follow the schedule, but we only decide what content will be done once the raid leader checks who is online, and what kind of raid composition is available.

We also try to be as fair as possible when it comes to getting people saved to a specific instance. So, if the players that are online by the invitation time are not a feasible team for a specific content, the raid leader may decide to do something else.

This decision is at sole discretion of the raid leader.

6. Ok, so I’ll be online at 7:30 PM server time. Is my raid spot guaranteed?

No. Although we do try our best to take all players to all available content, sometimes this is just not possible. We may have several ICC groups in a week to try to accommodate everybody, but still this is subject to the raid leader decision.

The best you can do to be considered for a raid is:

* Be online when invites come out (7:30 PM server time);
* Be on your main character (alts have secondary rights);
* Be dependable;
* Be available for the whole raid period, and if you can’t, notify the raid leader BEFORE the raid starts;
* Know your class and spec game (it is ok not to know the fights, although watching a YouTube video won’t hurt)
* Be geared to your best

7. How do you distribute loot?

Talamasca is a drama-free environment. Our main focus is having fun, and getting geared as a result of that. Please note that drama regarding loot will probably result on a smaller chance of you getting on future raids.

On 10-man raids, loot is distributed based on free roll, MS over OS. Please note that we do take into consideration class-specific loot. (e.g. druids rolling on cloth will have less priority that a priest/mage/warlock rolling on cloth)

On 25-man raids, loot is distributed according to the following:

* GUILD ONLY RAID: Talamasca adopts the ep/gp system (EPGP is based on the concept of Effort Points and Gear Points. Effort Points quantify the effort each member put towards the (common) guild goals and Gear Points quantify what each member got back in return. Loot priority is computed as the quotient of the two; priority (PR) is equal to EP/GP, which defines your loot priority), so there is no need to roll, you just say 1 for MS, 2 for OS and will receive loot according to your overall priority over everyone that also wants that specific piece.
* GUILD + PUG RAID: The system is basically the same; you type 1 for MS and 2 for OS. Then, because there are PUGs, everybody rolls, and if a PUG wins the roll, he gets the gear. But, if a guild member wins the roll, he WINS FOR THE GUILD, and the gear is distributed among those who wanted it, BASED ON EP/GP.

Don’t worry about getting enough EP to be able to get some loot. It only takes a few runs for you to start getting loot.

Summary: Loot is linked, 1 for MS, 2 for OS, on 10-man: roll; on 25-man, EP/GP. Simple, huh?

Some restrictions apply to specific loot like OS3D mounts and ICC Tokens, and those are discussed by the raid leader before the beginning of each encounter.

8. Are there guild repairs?

No. Talamasca does not pay for repairs, although some exceptions may occur, at the sole officer/GM discretion. Some guilds ask for a member gold contribution. We don’t.

At the same time, we do have a very fruitful guild bank, especially regarding enchanting and JC mats. So, if you want to enchant and/or gem a piece, please contact an officer, we will be glad to help, and this includes free mats.

9. I have a fever, and the only prescription is asking on guild chat “What are we doing today”, “What time does the raid start”, “Are invites out”. Is there a cure?

Yes and its called GMOTD. The Guild Message of The Day is a state-of-the-art, groundbreaking, unique way to inform guild members of what’s going on at that specific moment, invented and trademarked by Activision-Blizzard.

It is very easy. You just type “O”, click on the “Guild” tab, and there it is, by the bottom of the windows, a neat text box with ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW about the current guild schedule, along with the DO NOT PUG LIST.

10. DO NO PUG LIST? I’m 12 years old, and what is this?

The DNPL is a simple list of the content we would like to do together as a guild. It prevents members from pugging a specific content, and when that player is needed to compose a guild raid group, he/she is already saved, compromising the whole thing.

We expect members to respect the DNPL, unless noted by a GM or an Officer, and we tend to avoid counting on people that do not respect the DNPL for raid invites.

11. Cataclysm is coming. What will change?

Cataclysm is coming, and there will be a whole lot of changes in the game, including some very important changes regarding guild management and control. Currently, the GMs and Officers are discussing what will be our focus once the expansion pack comes out, and we will inform our members as soon as we have enough decisions to disclose.

Suffice it to say that once we have enough level-capped members, we will resume raiding as soon as we possibly can :)

12. General Information

Talamasca is a friendly environment, created and maintained by people who enjoy having fun with World of Warcraft. Most of us work, study and have families, and we do not put the game in front of our IRL duties.

We are not very tolerant regarding loot and other kinds of drama. If you get angry because someone taunted the boss off you by mistake, or because we don’t do that boss strategy according to the X or Y guild, or because you are way too good to be true, so probably Talamasca is not the right place for you to enjoy WoW at its best.

The GMs and Officers are at your disposal for anything you may need, please do not hesitate to ask. We will try our best to help you have fun as much as we do.

Welcome to Talamasca.

We accidentally the WHOLE THING.

We love Mudkips.

We are Kingslayers, and we hit hard.
